Family Triopsidae Keilhack, 1909

Triops longicaudatus (Le Conte, 1846) . This species was collected in Bonaire (1948), Curaçao (1948 and 1949), and Aruba (1948, 1949, and 1955) by Wagenaar Hummelinck and analysed by Linder (1960). In Bonaire, in three pools north of Kralendijk, in Curaçao at Tanki di Tera Corá and Hato, and in Aruba near Hooiberg. In 1989, it was collected on Aruba (Westpunt, Fontein and Boton) and in 1998 again at Boton (Belk et al. 2002). On 10 March 2015, T. longicaudatus was found at Spelonk Lighthouse and the day before on another place on Bonaire (Stapert 2015). Sassaman et al. (1997) compared material collected on Aruba with T. longicaudatus and T. newberryi but could not determine the species to which the animals belonged. They suspected that T. longicaudatus from the Caribbean might belong to a separate species.
