Family Daphnidae Straus, 1820
Simocephalus Schoedler, 1858 . One juvenile animal of the genus Simocephalus was found in a well at Bronswinkel on Bonaire (Rammner 1933).
Ceriodaphnia rigaudi Richard, 1894 . C. rigaudi Richard, 1894 (Rammner 1933) is sometimes considered a nomen nudum (Kotov et al. 2013). The valid name is considered to be Ceriodaphnia cornuta Sars, 1885 . A description of an unhorned ‘form’ of C. cornuta was given by Richard (1894) as C. rigaudi . Rzoska (1956) believed it to be a polymorphic species, with all forms merging in each other in one population (Zaret 1969). Today, these taxa are considered to be a species complex, with several undescribed Neotropical species (Sharma & Kotov 2013). The valid name of C. rigaudi is from Asian (Tonkin) material, and the animals from St. Maarten should be examined in detail, together with the original description. The typical form was found in a walled well with alkaline, mesohaline water at Pos Baca (Rammner 1933). C. rigaudi was common in Freshpond North and South on St. Maarten in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2008.
Ceriodaphnia quadrangula O.F. Müller, 1785 . C. quadrangula was found together with Leberis davidi in a well at Bronswinkel (Bonaire) by Rammner (1933).
