Leptochiton bednalli (Torr, 1912)
I agree with Gowlett-Holmes (2001) who did not find insertion plates in the type and other materials and transferred this species to the genus Leptochiton . Iredale & Hull (1924), who included this species in the genus Subterenochiton Iredale & Hull, 1924 mentioned posterior gills in the type specimen, which is typical for leptochitonids. Subterenochiton gabrieli (Hull, 1912), the type species of the genus Subterenochiton, however, has13 gills arranged from valve II to valve VII which is typical of more derived species.
