Diagnosis. Nemophora ischnodesma differs from all other species of the askoldella species-group recorded in India ( N. chionites, N. cassiterites and N. griseella; Figs. 19‒24) by the absence of the sharp border between the background forewing colour and the light transverse band in the forewing fascia: only the narrow dark brown line (which corresponds to the outer border of the light band of other species mentioned above) is present. In male genitalia N. ischnodesma differs from three other species listed above by the presence of two well-sclerotized lateral hooks in the apical quarter of phallus and the pointed lobe on the ventral valvar margin.

Description (Figs. 25, 26, 83): see Kozlov (1995).
