Remarks. A species of the W. zetterstedti -group that was often mis-identified or confused with other species; the group was revised by Ivković et al. (2022). The differences from other species were detected first by DNA sequence data and eventually also by morphological features. Wiedemannia czernyi inhabits streams in southern Europe and the Mediterranean area. New for Portugal.
