Cyclodus Petersii STRAUCH (1866a: col. 454)

Holotype: ZISP 368, “Kunstkamer”. Leg.: unknown?

Present name: Tiliqua gigas gigas (Schneider, 1801) fide Shea (2000).

Remarks: According to Shea (2000) this specimen probably originate from Southern Moluccas, Indonesia. Description of C. petersii was published in two different versions (see literature cited). The description appeared on column (page) 454 in Strauch (1866a) and page 768 of Strauch (1866b), accounting for the occasional confusion about the correct page citation associated with the name. A great number of authors cited the article in Mélanges biologiques tirés du Bulletin de l'Académie Impériale des Sciences de St. Pétersbourg (Strauch 1866b). However, it should be noted that the articles in Mélanges was published after the publication of primary volumes of the Bulletin de l'Académie Impériale des Sciences de St. Pétersbourg, of which some of the articles were reprinted (Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004).
