Habit: perennial herb to subshrub, up to 2 m.

Habitat: in montane forest, often dominated by Dacrycarpus imbricatus, on exposed limestone rocks, 1200 – 1470 m elevation.

Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Indochina, Indonesia to W Melanesia.
