Geographic & bathymetric distribution. Western Atlantic: from USA (North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida) and Gulf of Mexico to Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul); 30 – 915 m (Cardoso et al. 2020).

Remarks. Previous records of the species in Venezuela include the states of Zulia (Pérez Farfante 1977), Falcón (Pérez Farfante 1977; Blanco Rambla et al. 1994), La Guaira, Miranda (Pérez Farfante 1977), Anzoátegui (Blanco Rambla et al. 1992), and Los Testigos Archipelago (Pérez Farfante 1977).
