North Atlantic, between 25°N to 40°N, Sargasso Sea, off Canaries and Azores, Bay of Biscay; South Atlantic, between 32°S and 8°N; Southwest Indian Ocean, off South Africa, Pacific, off Hawaii, Southeast Pacific, off Chile; 20-1300 m (Sund 1920; Kensley 1971; Guzman 2002; Vereshchaka 2009)
