Description. Adult (Fig. 6): Wingspan 9.0–10.0 mm. Head, thorax and tegula light brown, frons cream. Labial palpus recurved; outer surface of segment 2 brown with rare white scales mainly in basal part, inner surface white; segment 3 brown with white middle ring and white apex. Antennal segments black, basally white-ringed. Forewing covered with light grey, brown-tipped scales. Large black spot at one-third and small black spot at two-thirds length of costal margin; diffused black spot at base near posterior margin; two small black dots at base of cell and large black spot (which is sometimes separated into two small dots) at corner of cell; diffused cream, weakly angulated subapical fascia developed in some specimens; cilia light grey, browntipped. Hindwing light grey.

Male genitalia (Figs. 22, 23): Uncus prolonged, weakly narrowed to rounded apex. Gnathos small, weakly curved. Tegumen relatively narrow and long. Valva narrow, straight, of equal width, slightly exceeding top of uncus. Sacculus about one-quarter length of valva, outer margin slightly constricted basally, inner margin direct, apex rounded with distinctly pointed tip. Paired processes on posterior margin of vinculum slender, curved outwards apically, about three-quarters length of sacculus; medial excision moderately broad and deep. Saccus large, broad, abruptly cut apically. Aedeagus basally swollen, distal portion weakly curved with small pointed tip; apical cornutus small, down-curved.

Female genitalia (Fig. 43): Papilla analis sub-oval, sparsely covered with short setae. Apophysis posterioris long. Apophysis anterioris slender, distinctly shorter than segment VIII. Segment VIII trapezoid, slightly longer than broad. Vaginal plates moderately long and narrow, separated by relatively broad membranous zone, with small foamy sclerotized patterns at antero-medial corner. Postvaginal plates broadly rounded apically, distinctly exceeding proximal margin of segment VIII, entirely covered with spumous sculpture. Ductus bursae short, gradually broadened towards corpus bursae; cingulum broad, distinct. Corpus bursae about same length as ductus bursae, sub-oval or rounded; signum narrow, strongly curved and hooked, serrated basally.

Diagnosis. Scrobipalpa erichiodes sp. n. is superficially similar to S. erichi Povolný, 1964 . The male genitalia are well recognizable by the broad saccus, comparatively long and direct valva, small but stout gnathos in combination with the basally constricted sacculus. In general the male genitalia resemble those of S. gallincolella (Mann, 1872) and S. artemisiella (Treitschke, 1833) . The female genitalia resemble those of many Scrobipalpa species by having rounded postvaginal lobes which exceed anterior margin of sternite VIII, namely S. gozmanyi Povolný, 1969, S. gobica Povolný, 1969, and especially S. gallincolella Mann and S. artemisiella mongolensis Povolný.

Biology. Larvae were reared from wattle of Lycium barbarum Linn. (Solanaceae) . According to label data, larvae of S. erichiodes and S. parki sometimes occur in the same host-plant.

Distribution. China (Gansu, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Xinjiang).

Etymology. The specific name indicates a close relationship of the new species with S. erichi .
