Palaemonella crosnieri Bruce, 1978: 210, figs. 2–4; 2007: 122. — Li, 2000: 101, fig. 108; 2008a: 217. — Li and Bruce, 2006: 656.
Material examined. St 17, 10/11/2009, 11h–14h, North reef, 12°34'49.93"S, 45° 5'52.62"E, coll. KUW fieldwork, scuba diving 22 m, sediment suction pump, 1 male (LC 2.5 mm), (both second pereiopods lost, distal half of telson lost, rostral formula: 1+5/2) MNHN-Na 17558; St 23, 13/11/09, 11h–13h, Choizil pass "Patate à Teddy", 12°40'56.91"S, 44°57'51.63"E, coll. KUW fieldwork, scuba diving 15–30 m, collapsed edge reef, 1 male (LC 2.5 mm), (rostral formula: 1+6/2), MNHN-Na 17570.
Distribution. Type locality Iles Glorieuses. Also known from Kenya, Australia (Western Australia), Loyalty Islands, Polynesia, Marquesas Islands.
Remarks. The specimens with their rostral formulae 1+5/2 and 1+6/2 seem closer to Palaemonella disalvoi Fransen, 1987, not 1+7/3 as in the type of P. crosnieri . However, their other characteristics agree with the description and illustrations of Bruce (1978), and the type locality of P. crosnieri is Iles Glorieuses, 20m, and known also from Loyalty Islands, 2–40m (Li and Bruce, 2006), West Australia (Bruce, 1992, 2007), Marquesas Is., Polynesia (Li, 2008a), its range is much wider than that of P. disalvoi, which is known only from its type locality Easter Island at 36 m (or 15–60m, DiSalvo et al., 1988). We herewith tentatively treat this specimens as P. cro s n ie r i, although their rostral formulae do not agree with the type. The species was not previously recorded from Mayotte. The specimen of MNHN-Na 17558 was collected together with 1 female of Cuapetes ensifrons (Dana, 1852) (MNHN-Na 17557) at Station 17.
