Distribution. Type locality Misaki, Japan. Other records need to be verified.

Remarks. In his revision of the species, Hayashi (2009) confirmed the records of Bruce (1970, part). The other records under the name Palaemonella spinulata Yokoya, 1936 before Hayashi (2009) might be confused with other species of the genus such as P. m a z i w i Bruce, 2002 and P. longidactylus Hayashi, 2009 and need to be verified. The only female specimen agrees well with the redescription and illustrations of Hayashi (2009). The species was not previously recorded from Mayotte with certainty. The specimen was collected together with 1 ovigerous female of Cuapetes ensifrons (Dana, 1852) (MNHN-Na 17562), 1 female of Harpiliopsis depressa (Stimpson, 1860) (MNHN- Na 17561), and 1 ovigerous female of Harpilius consobrinus De Man, 1902 (MNHN-Na 17560) at Station 23.
