Demotina rufonotata (Pic, 1924) (comb. nov.)
(Figs 6, 21–22)
Leprotes rufonotatus Pic, 1924: 6
Hyperaxis rufonotatus (Pic, 1923[sic!]) (as synonym of H. scutellatus): Kimoto, Gressitt, 1982: 78.
Material examined. Syntype, ♂, N. Vietnam, “Tonkin” (MNHN) .
This species was described by M. Pic from Tonkin, then was erroneously synonymized under Hyperaxis scutellatus (Baly, 1863) . Study of type specimen from MNHN showed that its pubescence above is damaged but remaining parts are surely composed of the scales only, without the long setae as in the species of Hyperaxis, including H. scutellatus . Along with confused elytral puncturation it is the evidence that it is a separate species of Demotina close to D. medvedeviana Moseyko, 2006 and the new species described here (see the characters in the key below).
