= Aulomyrcia ferruginea O.Berg, Fl. Bras. 14(1): 552. 1859 (type: "Ad ripas rivulorum in montibus Serra da Lapa in provinciae Minarum", Riedel s.n., LE). Myrcia lapensis N. Silveira, Roessléria 7: 67. 1985., not Myrcia ferruginea (Poir.) DC., Prodr. 3: 245. 1828. Syn. nov.

The proposed lectotype for Aulomyrcia subavenia is selected by choosing a specimen labeled in Berg's handwriting; although not cited in the protologue, it quite adequately matches it.
