European distribution: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, former Yugoslavia (Daniel 1957; Daniel & Heneberg 1972; Kudryashova 1998; Moniuszko & Mąkol 2014).

Notes: This is the first record of M. muris on small mammals in Baltic States (Lithuania). All specimens were found in Central Lithuanian lowland (natural meadows).
