European distribution: Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland (Wegner 1966; Beaucournu & Arzamasov 1967; Beaucournu 1968; Mahnert 1971b; Cais 1977; Büttiker & Mahnert 1978; Krištofik & Dudich 2000a; Vas et al. 2012).

Notes: This is the first record of P. hannswrangeli on small mammals in Baltic States (Lithuania). Specimens were collected in Aukštaitija highland (arable land, mature deciduous and mixed forests, natural meadows) and South-Eastern Lithuanian lowland (mature deciduous forests).
