The valid type species fixation is that of Lacordaire (1855), who selected Cetonia bufo Gory & Percheron, 1835,

but that nominal species is the type species of the subgenus Chilamblys Kraatz, 1880, not of the nominotypical subgenus. An application to the Commission is necessary to fix Parachilia melanocala Burmeister, 1842 as the type species of Parachilia Burmeister, 1842 .
