Genus Pulvinaria Targioni Tozzetti, 1866

Type species: Coccus vitis Linnaeus, 1758, by original designation.

Diagnosis. Mature adult female with white ovisac visible under and posterior to body (Fig. 43A); dorsal tubular ducts present or absent (Fig. 42E); dorsal tubercles present or absent (Figs 40B, 42D, 44D); ventral tubular ducts of more than 2 types present in submarginal areas and/or medial areas of head, thorax and abdomen (Figs 39D, 40J, 41D, 42J, 43D, 44I); legs with tibio-tarsal articulatory scleroses (Fig. 40I) (Hodgson 1994; Williams & Watson 1990; Choi & Lee 2017a).

Remarks. Pulvinaria is a large genus, consisting of 143 described species from all zoogeographical regions (GarcĂa Morales et al. 2016). Adult females of the genus are easily recognized by the presence of a white ovisac under and posterior to the body and several types of ventral tubular ducts present in the medial and submarginal areas of the body (Hodgson 1994).
