Kloosia Kruseman

Kloosia Kruseman, 1933: 152 .

The genus Kloosia is a member of the Harnischia group. The male hypopygium has a non-shortened inferior volsella covered with very short setae only, lacking long, apical setae. Reiss (1988) included four species in Kloosia, namely K. koreana Reiss, 1988 collected in Eastern Asia, K. africana Reiss, 1988 from tropical Africa, K. pusilla (Linnaeus, 1767) from Europe and Russia, and K. dorsenna (Saether, 1983) from the Nearctic region.

This is the first record of Kloosia from Japan. Adults were collected at Nagara River, Gifu Prefecture and at Nishiki River, Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and larvae at Teradomari, Niigata Prefecture. All were identified to K. koreana .
