Homogryllacris irregularis sp. nov.

NJÜ同Dzae

Figures 5, 6B

Diagnosis. This new species differs from Homogryllacris bilobus (Bey-Bienko, 1957) in the following: ventral surfaces of antennal cavities without longitudinal black stripe on each side (Fig. 5A); protonal disc with one black median band and some black lateral stripes (Fig. 5B); wings reaching the middle area of metanotum (Fig. 5C); posterior margin of female with median concavity (Fig. 5F). In Homogryllacris bilobus (Bey-Bienko, 1957), ventral surfaces of antennal cavities with longitudinal black stripe on each side; pronotal disc with regular black band along midline which widened at anterior and posterior margins; wings justly reaching the posterior margin of mesonotum; posterior margin of male subgenital plate with obtusely triangular concavity which wider and shallower than Homogryllacris brevipenna Du, Bian & Shi, 2016 (Du et al., 2016: Fig. 2E), the lateral lobes rounded; posterior margin of female subgenital plate widely rounded, faintly concave in middle.

Description. Female. The following characters are in addition to those similar Homogryllacris unicolor ’s description. Hind femora with 3 pairs of spines on ventral surface; hind tibiae with 5 pairs of spines on dorsal surface. Wings reaching the middle area of metanotum (Fig. 5C). Second and third abdominal tergites with two rows of stridulatory pegs (Fig. 5D). Seventh abdominal tergite longer than other sterna, faintly furrowed along midline on ventral surface with lateral areas convex, basal area with 1 pair of copulatory depressions (Fig. 5F). Intersegmental membrane between seventh sternite and subgenital plate shorter than the length of subgenital plate provided with faintly transverse folds (Fig. 5F). Posterior margin of subgenital plate with triangular concavity in middle, the lateral lobes obtuse (Fig. 5F). The average length of ovipositor about 0.96 times as long as body.

Male. Unknown.

Coloration. Body brown with black patterns. Face with 1 black spot in middle and 1 pair of black spots between antennal cavities; clypeo-frontal suture with 1 pair of small black spots, mandible with 1 black spot on each (Fig. 5A). Internal margins and ventral margins of antennal cavities black, scape with black spots (Fig. 5A). Internal margins of scape and pedicel with black spots. Fastigium verticis with 1 pair of black spots, behind these stripes with 1 black longitudinal band in middle which widening to semicircular on dorsal surface of head surrounding a black spot in middle (Fig. 5B). Eyes black. Margins of pronotum black, disc with irregularly black longitudinal band along the midline (Fig. 5B). Mesonotum, metanotum and dorsal surface of abdomen black (Fig. 6B). Wings brownish. Ovipositor brown. Apical areas of all femora and basal areas of all tibiae brownish.

Measurements (mm). Female: BL 18.0, PL 5.2, TL 2.8, HFL 10.8, OvL 17.2.

Distribution. Yunnan (Wenshan).

Etymology. The new species is named for the pronotal disc with irregularly black band along the midline.
