Ilyocryptus spinifer Herrick, 1882 .

A relatively common benthic species found mostly in lakes in autumn. I. spinifer inhabits muddy or clay substrates. The species is distributed worldwide, except for the Palearctic. No evidence of the non-cosmopolitanism of I. spinifer has been found (Kotov & Dumont 2000). The species is common in East Asia, including China (Xiang et al. 2015). For detailed description see Kotov & Dumont (2000) and Kotov et al. (2012) for Far Eastern populations.
