Ceriodaphnia cornigera Chiang, 1977

A very rare planktonic species; three neonates were found in a single lake (S6, Hunan Province). The species is easily recognized by lateral protrusion on the valves (Fig. 4 A- C), absent in most Ceriodaphnia species. To the date, it has been found in Yantze River basin in Hubei and Anhui Provinces (Chiang 1977; Chiang & Du 1979; Xiang et al. 2015; Wang et al. 2015). A possible endemic of Central China.
