Holotype: UPNG 5562, 16km NE of Mendi, 2400m, Southern Highlands Province, PNG (J. Menzies, 9.vii.1976).

Paratypes: UPNG 5563-5567, data as for holotype.

Remarks: Entire type series of six specimens in UPNG. UPNG 5567 is a cleared-and-stained osteological preparation. Menzies gave the type locality altitude as 2500m and coordinates as 5 o 50'S 145 o 37'E, but elsewhere in the description (1999: 351), in providing more information on the type locality, gave it as at an altitude of 2400m, ca 24km NE of Mendi, but with the same latitude and longitude. Type series in good condition.
