Genus Eumunida Smith, 1883

Remarks. Using DNA barcoding, Puillandre et al. (2011) found the existence of a new cryptic species that is morphologically referable to E. annulosa de Saint Laurent & Macpherson, 1990 . They also found that three described species are identical ( E. karubar de Saint Laurent & Poupin, 1996, and E. parva de Saint Laurent & Macpherson, 1990 are synonymized with E. smithii Henderson, 1885). Currently, 29 nominal species of the genus are known, 26 from the Indo-West Pacific and three from the Atlantic (Baba et al. 2008; Baba & Lin 2008; Komai & Tsuchida 2014; Macpherson et al. 2017). The material of Eumunida reported below represents a species new to science, and represents the first record of the genus from the eastern Pacific.
