Type Locality: Indonesia, Prov. of Papua (= Irian Jaya), Paniai Div., Weyland Mtns, Sumuri Mtn, 2500 m.

Vernacular Names: Mouse Bandicoot.

Distribution: W interior New Guinea., Vogelkop and Weyland Range, around 2000 m.

Conservation: IUCN – Data Deficient. Rare.

Discussion: The two isolates of this species are actually distinct species (Helgen and Flannery, work in progress).
