Distribution. Argentina (Misiones); Brazil (Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo). (Borowiec & Świętojańska 2024). New species to Ceará State, Brazil.
New record. BRAZIL: Ceará, Serra do Baturité, Guaramiranga, RPPN Sítio Lagoa, 30.XI–07.XII.2021, M. L. Monné leg., 1 spec. (MNRJ: MNRJ-ENT7 45726) .
Collecting method. Malaise trap.
Species diagnosis. This species is superficially similar to C. rochai sp. nov. as both share the same pattern, but C. furunculus can be readily separated by showing a shortened clypeal field and differently colored disc spot.
