Bittacus latreillei is a large species, with strongly contrasting colors on the legs (apex of femora and tibiae black), which facilitates its recognition. The unique shape of the male epandrium also helps its identification. Bittacus latreillei is another species in which the adults show an apparent flight activity for the raining seasons (Machado et al. 2010).
