Labropsila Meijere, 1914: 24 .

Type species: Labropsila polita Meijere, 1914, by subsequent designation (Hennig 1941: 36). Synonymized by Meijere (1916: 87).

Diversity and distribution. Strongylophthalmyia currently contains 92 species distributed in the Australasian, Nearctic, Oriental and Palearctic regions. Eighteen species were previously reported from China (Yang & Wang 1998; Evenhuis 2016; Qilemoge et al. 2021; Zhou et al. 2023).
