Echoma (Echoma) clypeata (Panzer) .
New Record. Trinidad: Cedros, I.1916, ex Quassia amara L. [ Simaroubaceae], coll. F.W. Urich (1, AMNH); Carapichaima, 16.IX.1925, coll. F.W. Urich (1, AMNH); Port of Spain, 17.I.1967, coll. E.N.K.J. Waering (1, FSCA). This is the first Caribbean record for the genus. The plant record is the first for this species however this should be confirmed since the plant family, Simaroubaceae, is a new unusual host family for cassidines. Host data are recorded for only two of the 12 species in this genus and these feed on Mikania spp. ( Asteraceae) (Windsor et al. 1995; Borowiec 1999).
