Distribution.

Members of this subgenus are spread in southern Palaearctic and Afrotropical Regions, with three species occurring also in the Oriental Region. Species H. (H.) metallescens (Erichson, 1834) has been introduced to USA (Florida) (Mazur 2011). In the Australopacific Region, one species, H. (H.) hyla, is present and was described from New Guinea, and occurs also in Indonesia (Java and Sunda), Vietnam, and Myanmar (Mazur 2011). Newly reported from India (see below).
