Material examined.

Paratypes, 1♀ 1♂ (SMF), China, Taiwan, Pintung Hsien, on dead leaves, 19.iii.1984 (S. Okajima) .

Comments.

Described from Kenting National Park, Taiwan on dead leaves, this species is one of the two Phylladothrips species having postocellar setae elongate and expanded at apex (Fig. 2), while the other one is P. bispinosus from the Philippines. However, in P. pallidus there are two pairs of wing-retaining setae on tergite VIII (Fig. 4) but only one pair in P. bispinosus .
