Type species: Ornebius rufonigrus Ingrisch, 1987: 173 (Thailand: Nakhon Si Thammarat) .

Diagnosis. Comparing with other species groups of the genus Ornebius, the species group is distinguished by the male phallus with external sclerites strongly developed, lateral valves forming a tube in apical area, and medial valve with internal sclerites laterally expanded in the basal spermatophore sac area (Fig. 18).

Except the type species, the species group includes Ornebius consternus, Ornebius dumoga and Ornebius alvarezi .
