Holoaerenica apleta Galileo & Martins, 1987: 454; Monné & Giesbert, 1994: 292 (checklist); Monné, 1995: 50 (cat.); Martins & Galileo, 1998: 25; Turnbow et al., 2003: 42 (distr.); Monné, 2005: 234 (cat.); Monné & Hovore, 2005: 214 (checklist); 2006: 214 (checklist); Hovore, 2006: 378 (distr.); Swift et al., 2010: 47 (distr.); Monné et al., 2017: 53 (holotype); Monné, 2018: 324 (cat.); Bezark, 2019: 248 (checklist).
This species was described from Guatemala (Alta Verapaz) based on a single female. Monné & Giesbert (1994) reported the species from Panama, and Turnbow et al. (2003) reported it from Honduras.Apparently, the species appeared as occurring in Mexico (Yucatán) in Monné & Hovore (2005), but probably this record already was present in an early PDF version available online. The same regarding the new record from Costa Rica that also was listed in Monné & Hovore (2005), but we know that was already present in Hovore (2002).
Material examined. MEXICO, Nayarit (New state record): El Zopilote (400 m), 1 female, 21.VII.1998, G. Nogueira col. (DHCO) .
