Distribution. Japan: Honshu, Kyushu.
Remarks. This species was described nearly 140 years ago based on a single male collected in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu; here for the first time recorded from Honshu. It is a large-bodied Stenichnus, with adults slightly exceeding 2 mm in length, and can be identified by unique aedeagal structures (illustrated in Jałoszyński (2004): fig. 6 A–C).
