Ortalischema Frey, 1925: 75 . Type-species: Sepsis albitarsis Zetterstedt, 1847, by original designation. Protothemira Duda, 1926a: 25, 26. Type-species: Sepsis albitarsis Zettersted, 1847, by monotypy.

Diagnosis. Only 1 vti present; or, oc, pvt, vte absent. Thorax wholly black and thinly pruinose. 2 npl, 1 dc, 1 sa, 1 pa, 1 b sc, 1 sc; pprn absent. Fore tarsus with unique structure and colour. Epandrium with a small rounded anterior lobe and a large oval posterior lobe, both lobes with long thick marginal setulae.
