Acellomyia González

Acellomyia González, 1999: 156 . Type-species: Tabanus paulseni Philippi, 1865: 721 (orig. des.).

Diagnosis. Medium-sized to large species (13.5–16.5 mm), brown, except A. fontanensis (Coscarón), which is grayish; eyes with sparse and short ommatrichia; frons broad and slightly divergent; frontal index 1.7–2.6; basal callus subovoid, not keel-shaped and without dorsal projection, touching subcallus, separated from eye margins; ocellar triangle and ocelli absent; subcallus with setae, except A. mapuche; basal flagellomere without dorsal projection; maxillary palpi slender and elongate and with short setae; mesonotum with longitudinal stripes; Sc and R1 with short setae, without appendix on R4; basicosta bare. Female terminalia: cerci rounded to subtriangular; tergite 10 subrectangular, with the tip rounded; tergite 9 subtriangular, with long setae. Gonapophysis with border concave and sinuous; sternite 8 with narrow base. Genital fork with narrow base, concave and short sperm pumps.
