Myopsocus garcialdretei n. sp.

(Figs 115–126)

Diagnosis. Belonging to the assemblage of species with the posterior margin of the front wings scalloped, but unlike these it presents forewing without large hyaline areas in cells M1 and M2 (Fig. 115); hypandrium broadly rounded apically (Fig. 119) and phallosome basally narrow, with side struts fused (Fig. 120).

Male. Color. Head (Fig. 117) brown, darker genae, clypeus and labrum, postclypeus with small brown spots. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Antenna pale brown; maxillary palps brown, Mx4 darker. Forewing (Fig. 115) with brown and dark brown spots and hyaline area, with well-marked basal fascia, pterostigma dark brown, filled with small dark brown spots that extends outside the margin, while retaining its shape, alar margin dotted, veins pale brown. Hindwing (Fig. 116) smoked, with veins brown and dotted costal margin. Legs: coxae and trochanter dark brown, femur dark brown proximally, light brown distally, with subapical brown spot, tibia and tarsi pale brown, t2–t3 darker. Hypandrium dark brown, paraprocts and epiproct light brown to cream.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following:As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 117): H/MxW: 1.44; compound eyes large, H/D: 1.82; IO/MxW: 0.52. Vertex slightly emarginated, V-shaped widened, below upper level of compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with five denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.22. Forewings (Fig. 115): L/W: 2.41. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 2.00, areola postica almost as tall as wide, apically angled: al/ah: 1.25. Cell M1 and M2 with slightly scalloped apical margin. Hindwings (Fig. 116): l/w: 2.68. Hypandrium trianguliform, rounded apically (Fig. 119), anterior border concave; with several setae and macrosetae. Phallosome elongate, side struts close together basally, external parameres widened, distally rounded, endophallus membranous (Fig. 120): Paraprocts somewhat ovoid (Fig. 118), with acuminate apical process, directed inward; field of distal setae as illustrated; sensory fields with 23 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct (Fig. 118) semioval, with scattered setae and macrosetae in the distal field, as illustrated.

Female. Color. As in males. Paraprocts, epiproct and gonapophyses slightly pigmented.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 123). H/MxW: 1.22; vertex somewhat sinuous and emarginated, slightly above upper level of compound eyes, these smaller than in males, H/D: 2.12, widely separated, IO/MxW: 0.68, with interommatidial setae. Outer cusp of lacinial tips little wide, with four denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.02. Forewings (Fig. 121): L/W: 2.32. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 2.14, areola postica almost as high as wide, apically angled: al/ah: 1.44. Hindwings (Fig. 122): l/w: 2.55. Paraprocts (Fig. 124) subrectangular, with short outer margin and rounded latero-posterior angle; distal field and apical margin with rows of setae; sensory fields with 27 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct (Fig. 124) subtriangular, broadly rounded apically and basal margin almost straight, distal field with setae and four macrosetae, apical margin with few setae. Subgenital plate (Fig. 125). Gonapophyses typical to family (Fig. 126), V1 apically acuminate, V2 distally acuminate, more than twice the length of V1, V3 oval, with abundant setae and macrosetae as illustrated.
