Acrogonia clarae sp. nov.

(Figs. 10–17)

Total length. Male holotype 9.0 mm; male paratypes 8.5–9.0 mm (n = 7); female unknown.

Holotype description. Head and thorax. Structural features of head and thorax (Figs. 10–11) much as described above for A. amazonensis sp. nov.

Color. Anterior dorsum (Fig. 10) yellow to greenish-yellow; crown and mesonotum with irregular dark brown marks (most of mesonotum covered by these marks). Forewings (Figs. 10–11) yellow to greenish-yellow, except for membranous portions. Face, lateral and ventral portions of thorax, and legs (Fig. 11) yellow to greenish-yellow; superior portion of face and of lateral lobe of pronotum narrowly brown to dark brown.

Male genitalia. Pygofer (Fig. 12), in lateral view, strongly produced posteriorly; with distinct lobe on basiventral portion; setae distributed mostly on median and distal third of disc. Subgenital plates (Fig. 13), in ventral view, subtriangular, basal third broad, then tapering to middle portion; apical half slender, appearing articulated with basal half; in lateral view, plates short, not extending posteriorly beyond basal half of pygofer (Fig. 12); plate surface with scattered setae. Connective (Fig. 14), in dorsal view, T-shaped; stalk narrow, with median keel, apex expanded. Style (Fig. 14), in dorsal view, extending posteriorly distinctly beyond apex of connective; preapical lobe distinct, bearing few setae; apical portion directed outward; apex acute. Aedeagus (Figs. 15–16) symmetrical and elongate; apex of shaft (Fig. 15), in lateral view, with small, acute dorsal apical process; shaft (Fig. 16), in ventral view, broad, with lateral portions more sclerotized than median area and joining each other posteromedially; aedeagal base with pair of slender elongate processes that extend posteriorly beyond shaft apex. Anal tube (Fig. 17) without processes; basal apodeme of segment X with lobe on dorsal margin.

Female unknown.

Intraspecific variation. The color of the pronotum varies from yellow to green margined with yellow. Forewings may be coriaceous and yellow or translucent yellow with brown areas on clavus and anteapical portion. Some variation may be due to fading of coloration in preserved specimens.

Etymology. The new species name, clarae, refers to Maria Clara Carvalho da Costa, goddaughter of the first author.
