Utricularia caerulea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 18. 1753.

"Habitat in Zeylona." RCN: 151.

Lectotype (Committee for Spermatophyta in Taxon 38: 302. 1989): Herb. Hermann 2: 13, No. 23 (BM-000621547) .

Current name: Utricularia caerulea L. ( Lentibulariaceae).

Note: Smith (in Exot. Bot. 2: 119-120. 1805) has been credited with the typification of the name, basing it on the Hermann element. However, as the name had also been interpreted via other, discordant elements, Bhattacharyya (in Taxon 35: 750. 1986) proposed the name for rejection. This was not approved by the Committee for Spermatophyta, who ruled (in Taxon 38: 302. 1989) that the Hermann element should be the type, and that the name should be used in the sense of this type. Taylor (in Kew Bull, Addit. Ser. 14: 192. 1989) gives a review.
