Lectotype (Jonsell & Jarvis in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 148. 1994): Herb. Clifford: 475, Polypodium 8 (BM-000647597) .

Current name: Phegopteris connectilis (Michx.) Watt ( Thelypteridaceae).

Note: Although Holttum (in Blumea 17: 11. 1969) indicated material in LINN as the type, he did not distinguish between sheets 1251.28, 1251.29 and 1251.30. As these are evidently not part of a single gathering, Art. 9.15 does not apply.
