Current name: Physalis campechiana L. ( Solanaceae).

Note: This appears to be an illegitimate renaming of P. campechiana L. (1759) . Nee (in Gómez-Pompa, Fl. Veracruz 49: 142. 1986) used P. arborescens, treating Houstoun material (BM) as “type” . However, this is very unlikely to be original material for the name, and a Miller plate is cited by Linnaeus in the synonymy of P. campechiana, so the Houstoun material cannot be treated as a neotype.
