Primula acaulis (Linnaeus) Linnaeus, Flora Anglica: 12. 1754, nom. inval.
Type not relevant.
Current name: Primula vulgaris Huds. ( Primulaceae).
Note: Greuter (in Candollea 44: 566. 1989) argued that this is a new combination made by Linnaeus in 1754, and therefore pre-dating the usual name for the primrose, P. vulgaris Huds. However, Brummitt & Meikle (in Watsonia 19: 181-183. 1993) argued that there are typographical variants of the thesis which make it unreasonable to interpret this as a new combination.
