Genus Syringophilopsis Kethley, 1970

Type species: Syringophilus elongatus Ewing, 1911, by original designation.

Representatives of this genus occupy quills of primaries and secondaries. They are mainly associated with passerines and have been recorded from birds of the families: Acrocephalidae, Alaudidae, Cardinalidae, Certhiidae, Corvidae, Dicruridae, Estrildidae, Fringillidae, Hirundinidae, Icteridae, Laniidae, Meliphagidae, Mimidae, Motacillidae, Muscicapidae, Paridae, Parulidae, Passeridae, Ploceidae, Polioptilidae, Pycnonotidae, Sittidae, Sturnidae, Sylviidae, Thraupidae, Turdidae, and Tyrannidae . Only three species have been recorded on non-passeriform birds of the orders: Coraciiformes (fam. Meropidae) and Trogoniformes (Trogonidae) .

The genus Syringophilopsis includes 45 species, among them 16 are present in the Nearctic region.
