Genus Neosyringophilopsis Skoracki and Sikora, 2005

Neosyringophilopsis Skoracki and Sikora, 2005: 22 .

Type species: Neosyringophilopsis acanthizus Skoracki and Sikora, 2005, by original designation.

Members of this genus inhabit quills of primaries, secondaries and coverts. They are mainly associated with passeriform birds from the families: Acanthizidae, Aegithalidae, Estrildidae, Leiothrichidae, Locustellidae, Phylloscopidae, and Troglodytidae . One species of this genus has been noted on representatives of piciform birds of the family Lybiidae .

The Nearctic fauna comprises only one of the eight described species in this genus, N. troglodytis (Fritsch, 1958) .
