Ichneumon generosus Smith, 1874

Taxonomic history. Uchida (1926) synonymised Ichneumon yumyum Kriechbaumer, 1895, described based on a specimen from Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshû, Japan, with I. generosus Smith, 1874, and I. generosus Smith had been used as a valid name for a long time. However, the species name ‘ Ichneumon generosus ’ is preoccupied by Olivier (1792).

Current taxonomy. Primary homonym, valid name: Ichneumon yumyum Kriechbaumer, 1895 ( Ichneumonidae: Ichneumoninae: Ichneumonini).

Type number. Type 3b.1808. Specimen # NHMUK010634920

Sex. Male.

Type locality. Hyôgo Prefecture, Honshû, Japan.

Sm. ♀ /teste Townes et al. 1965: 466 /( Pterocormus) (Labelled by/C. O’Toole 5. ix. 1988)’ (square label, with red margin; printed except for ‘ ♀ ’ handwriting).

Condition. Very good, but the left fore tarsus is missing the third to fifth tarsomeres.
