Type Locality: Robertsport, Liberia.

Vernacular Names: Buettikofer's Shrew.

Distribution: West African high forest; S Guinea (Heim de Balsac, 1958) to Liberia, Ghana (Decher et al., 1997), and Nigeria (Hutterer and Happold, 1983).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Formerly included attila; see Hutterer and Joger (1982). Grubb et al. (1998) discussed a number of possible records from Ghana and Sierra Leone that require confirmation.
