Stenosigma quechua Hermes & Ferreira, 2016
(Figs. 6, 9, 32)
Stenosigma quechua Hermes & Ferreira, 2016: 124 –126.
Type data: Holotype female (MSVE). Examined.
Type locality: Dos de Mayo, Peru.
Comments and Diagnosis. This species is closely related to S. humerale . Both are relatively large compared to other species of Stenosigma . In addition, they present the integument with sparser punctation, rarely with concentrated and abundant punctures. In the pronotum and mesepisternum the punctures are sparse and deep.
Two specimens of S. quechua were mistakenly included in the type series of S. humerale by Giordani Soika as paratypes. The mistake was detected by Hermes and Ferreira (2016), and the main differences between S. humerale and S. quechua were detailed by these authors (Hermes & Ferreira, 2016, p. 125). Stenosigma humerale and S. quechua are easily distinguished by having the pre-apical fossa flattened and poorly developed in the former (Fig. 31), and slit-shaped in the latter (Fig. 32).
