Type locality. Kikaia and Hakodadi (= Hakodate) Bay, Hokkaido, Japan

Distribution. Japanese coast from southern Hokkaido to Okinawa Island; Korean coast; East China Sea Coast of China; South China Sea, Hong Kong, northern Vietnam, intertidal.

Remarks. Bullock & Harper (1994) reported this species from Hong Kong for the first time, but they identified it as Notoplax doederleini (Thiele, 1909) . Their good description and figures show that their identification was erroneous.
