Type material. Unknown, types unascertained (Ferreira 1986).

Type locality. Paulo Dama, Gulf of Siam .

Distribution. Gulf of Siam (Leloup 1939), Hong Kong (Van Belle 1980) and Amami and Okinawa Islands (Saito & Yoshioka 1993).

Remarks. This species used to be considered as a forma of Liolophura japonica (Leloup 1939; Van Belle 1980). But Saito & Yoshioka (1993) regarded it as a distinct species (see remarks of L. japonica). Kaas et al. (2006) considered it also as a form of L. japonica . We follow here Saito & Yoshioka (1993).
