Anoplocnemis protracta (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1850)

Mictis protractus Herrich-Schaeffer, 1850: 274 (as new species); Mictis compressa Dallas, 1852: 388 .

Distribution in Iran. Mazandaran (Moulet et al. 2008).

General distribution. Afghanistan, Oriental Region.

Comments. Sarafrazi (1995) reported Anoplocnemis curvipes Fabricius 1781 from Iran for the first time. A. curvipes is an Afrotropical species known in Asia only from Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen (Linnavuori 1986, 1989; Dolling 2006). Therefore the record of A. curvipes from Iran is invalid, and we suppose that Sarafrazi’s (1995) sample(s) belong to A. protracta as well (Moulet et al. 2005); the species is known also from the neighborng Afghanistan (Hoberlandt & Švihla 1990b).
